Environmental Risk Management Authority (ERMA)

A review on the 1080 decision was released August 2007

Here is a quick breakdown of several important sections

Chairperson's Comment

"We do not give the aerial application of 1080 a green light so much as a flashing amber light - proceed but with caution".

Contamination of Soil - Conclusion

"The Committee notes that there is little scientific data available on the degradation of 1080 in New Zealand soils at cool temperatures and recommends that further research be undertaken".

Contamination of Water - Conclusion

"Committee recommends further research on the degradation rates of 1080 in water under New Zealand conditions".

Health Effects of 1080

"No carcinogenicity studies of 1080 have been carried out".

Given the lack of scientific evidence on the safety of 1080,
how can the public of New Zealand be sure we are
not doing irreversible damage to whole ecosystems?

What will our future generations have to face?

Remember 245T was once considered safe!!
